Sarah Tavel Transitions to Venture Partner Role at Benchmark
Sarah Tavel, the first female general partner at Benchmark, has announced her transition to a venture partner role. After eight years as a general partner, Tavel shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), stating her desire to explore edge AI tools and the future of artificial intelligence.
In her new capacity, Tavel will continue to invest in new ventures and serve on the boards of her existing portfolio companies. This shift allows her more flexibility to pursue her interests in AI.
Tavel joined Benchmark in 2017 after experiences at Greylock Partners, Pinterest, and Bessemer Venture Partners. Her prior investments include Hipcamp, Chainalysis, and Supergreat (acquired by Whatnot).
Benchmark, known for its small team of general partners and equal profit-sharing structure, has operated this way since its founding in 1995.
While at Benchmark, Tavel also invested in Paparazzi (which later shut down) and the AI sales platform 11X.
