Waymo and Uber Offer Early Robotaxi Rides in Atlanta
Waymo and Uber are giving select customers in Atlanta early access to their robotaxi service. This comes ahead of the planned public launch this summer. Eligible riders, previously on a waitlist, will be notified through the Uber app and email.
Participants are encouraged to share feedback on their experience. As a bonus, riders will receive $10 in Uber credits after their first Waymo ride.
Atlanta Follows Austin in Robotaxi Pilot
Atlanta is the second city to pilot the "Waymo on Uber" service. The program, which connects riders with a Waymo vehicle via the Uber app, debuted in Austin this spring.
The companies announced their partnership last September, with plans to bring robotaxis to both cities in early 2025. This partnership allows only Uber users to hail Waymo's autonomous Jaguar I-PACE vehicles.

Similar to Waymo's rollout in other cities like Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco, the Atlanta service area will expand gradually. Initially, the service will cover a 65-square-mile area, encompassing downtown, Buckhead, and Capitol View.
The "Waymo on Uber" program divides operational responsibilities. Uber manages charging, maintenance, cleaning, and app-based access to the robotaxis. Waymo oversees the autonomous technology, operations, and rider assistance.
