Google Discontinues Support for Early Nest Learning Thermostats

Google announced it will end support for its first and second-generation Nest Learning Thermostats on October 25, 2024. This includes the 2011, 2012, and the 2014 European versions.

After this date, these devices will no longer receive software updates and will not be supported within the Nest and Google Home apps. Users will still be able to adjust temperature and schedules directly on the thermostat itself.

To fully invest in future advancements and bring you the most cutting-edge features on our latest generation of Nest thermostats, we will be transitioning away from supporting three of our oldest devices, each over a decade old.

Nest Product Launches Halted in Europe

In a separate announcement, Google stated it will no longer launch new Nest thermostat products in Europe. The company cited the unique heating systems and diverse hardware/software requirements in European homes as the reason for this decision.

Existing Nest devices will continue to be sold in Europe while supplies last.
