Threads Enhances Desktop Experience, Migrates to Threads.com

Meta has officially transitioned Threads from threads.net to threads.com and launched a redesigned desktop interface. This update delivers a more streamlined user experience and several new features.

Improved Navigation and Functionality

The updated desktop UI offers a familiar layout mirroring the mobile app experience, with topic feeds displayed prominently above the main feed. Users can still utilize the column format for tracking multiple threads simultaneously. A new pop-up composer, accessible via the "+" button, allows for in-stream posting.

Accessing liked and saved posts is now easier through the main menu. Users can also copy Threads posts as images for sharing on other platforms like Instagram, with proper attribution to the original creator.

Connecting with Existing Networks

Threads is simplifying the process of finding existing connections. A new feature allows users to upload lists of profiles they follow on other platforms, starting with X (formerly Twitter), to quickly connect with their network on Threads. Meta plans to expand this functionality to other social media platforms in the future.

Continued Growth and Development

Threads continues to experience strong download momentum and is projected to surpass 500 million users this year. With these ongoing improvements, Threads is solidifying its position as a valuable social networking platform, fostering stronger community engagement and competing with established platforms like X.

While the profile matching feature isn't foolproof due to database discrepancies and the manual upload process, it offers a helpful way for users to rebuild their networks and discover relevant content on Threads.
