X Rolls Out 4K Video Upload Support

X is now enabling premium subscribers to upload videos in 4K resolution. This significant upgrade aims to enhance user engagement and provide a higher-quality video experience.

Previously, X Premium users could upload videos up to 1080p resolution, 8GB in size, and approximately three hours long. With the introduction of 4K support, X may adjust file size limits for subscribers.

Boosting Video Content on X

Since Elon Musk's acquisition, X has focused on encouraging more video content on the platform. This 4K upgrade follows previous updates, including increased upload limits and the introduction of a dedicated vertical video feed. These changes reflect X's efforts to compete with established video platforms like YouTube and Vimeo, and capitalize on the evolving social media landscape.

The platform has gradually increased video upload limits for subscribers and also launched longer upload durations. Earlier this year, X introduced a dedicated vertical video feed accessible directly from the home page of its mobile apps.

The move towards higher-quality video aligns with X's strategy to become a more comprehensive content platform.
